EWian-and-Niniji, in Emma's book

EWian's hot air balloons and buildings and pilotress lent me a lot of space for imagination. I decided to continue the flowiness seen in others' works in this book...
Will hold this book through the weekend to give some more "body" to my work, but almost ready to go. (we kinda' haven't heard from Olivier in a while though, should I send him another book or should I send it to someone who's been waiting for another book for ages instead?)

WONDERFULLLLL Niniji!!!!! Really dreamy !!!!
Isn't it better for the energy of the group to send it to someone who hasn't had a book for ages and is readdy to go?
Olivier, which book do you have? Do you have mine?
Thank you all! It's great to see a new entry!

I agree with you.... it's coming up to one year since a book left my hands......
Would it be too radical to suggest that all the books are sent back to their original owners and we start again with some sort of ground rules? ...either with the same books or new books?

That's quite a sensible suggestion, Rowland. We have a status spreadsheet going and we have the mailing list set up... but none of the above is working. But clearly we have enough people frustrated about the dynamics of this group which means we still have hope. Maybe we just need to push on the reset button...

I am most-likely going to stick to the same book, I really love what I've got in there so far (thanks guys)... But first, we need to reestablish our communication.

I just got an email from Olivier! He says he has two books (must be Rowland's and Barbara's) and (here, I'll just paste his message:)
"I've finished one of them, but still need a few hour on the other one. I'll ship them out this week. So I should have time for the next one. Sorry to cause a clog in the pipe..."

I am somewhat leaning towards having Olivier send both books to Helena. Unless Rowland, would you prefer having your book sent back to you instead? I am thinking if we can bypass Karena and Jan until we hear something from them, then the rest of the group seems to be pretty on schedule..... right?

Any suggestions?

I have written Karena an email last week and will write her again hoping my book will show up again.

Hi guys, Karena has emailed me to say she's pulling out of the group because she's been having eyesight problems. She has finished one book and has two untouched books. So she will be sending all 3 books to me on Wednesday and I will be drawing like crazy (to make up for all those months that I didn't get to draw on the moleskins)

I have no idea if we should find a replacement for karena. And I'm very sad to see her leave the group. So any ideas?

I have also emailed Jan earlier in the month. I think she is still with us. She still has my book (naughty girl :P) and possibly the others. If anybody needs to get hold of jan, her email is roly1444(at)yahoo.com.au I think Oliver and niniji's books may be with her too.

My own preference would be return the books to their original owners - and then we can restart from scratch-- with agreed 'guidelines'

I am somewhat hoping my notebook can finish the Australian leg of its journey. Is it possible to initiate this talk about what to agree on while we wait for our notebooks to slowly make their return?

Lovely, I like how this moleskine is progressing. Thank you very much people.

As the Australians have all spoken apart from this, we know Karena is out, due to her poor eyes, the rest of us are still here. Personally, I am a fast and respectful moleskine exchanger, so if the books were sent to me, I would do all that is possible to get them to the next person asap. I think it is slightly silly to have your book returned to you, then, send it back to, say Australia, when you live on the other side of the world. But if that is what people want, that is also fine.

I will be in France for 2 weeks for the start of Feb, so if any books are sent to me in this time, I wouldn't be completing them (they would not go astray, I have someone in my house at that time), but as it stands, it seems Helena is willing to get busy on the moleskines that Karena had. They usually then go to Jan.

re while we wait for our notebooks to slowly make their return?

It is now coming up to one year since I have seen a book. . . . I still don't quite understand where the books are - so I would go for a reset! Return the books to their 'owners' and then let's reconsider the whole idea.

I'm with emma. We've identified most of the hold ups. Majority of the books are with karena but she has pulled out of this exchange due to health problems. She has already posted all 3 books to me. I'm still to receive them.

I think it would make more sense for me to draw on the books instead of posting it back to the owners. I'm usually pretty fast with my exchanges. And obviously I'm willing to do all 3 books to keep the project going.

I will post my finished books to Jan and Emma. Emma is pretty quick herself so i can post 2 books to her to share the workload with Jan. Jan has just finished 2 books herself (read the new blog entry) That means the books are making it's way to the other side of the world fairly soon!

Personally I think we should still stick to this same exchange. We've already identified all the hold ups and everyone with the books have been notified and have already worked on it and posted to the next team member.

To resend all the molys back to their owners will require time, more delay and more people will pull out. And we'll all have half finished books. So a little more patience, I'm confident you will see some books soon rowland and barbara! xoox

I don't really feel I should be commenting here, having been part of the hold ups, but if you agree to Helena's suggestions I will make sure I don't continue to hold this exchange up.

quite the contrary, I am relieved to see your comment, Jan! Honestly like I posted earlier as a reply under a different entry, I just wanted to hear something from this group. Because when it was very silent here at the blog, I can't tell if people are busy/ having artist's blocks or have lost interest in this exchange altogether. (sorry, maybe I just got paranoid from past bad experiences with other projects) Now that we are back in touch, I am okay. :-)

I have replied Olivier's email letting him know that Rowland might want his book back. But since I don't know if Rowland has changed his mind so I asked him to contact Rowland to find out where he wants his book to go. I respect Rowland's decision either way.
As far as my book goes, please carry on as is now that things are cleared up. I certainly want to stay in this exchange with the same book.

p.s.: I am moving to Taiwan in mid-February and I did contact EWian via Facebook to give her my new address.

I seem to be in the minority.... first I think I'd like to know where all the books are so I know how much longer I have to wait to see something . . could somebody update the spreadsheet, maybe so it's clear who is in and who is not?

benconservato said...

We have communication from everyone. Good.
Don't send any book to me as yet Helena, Jan is going to post those two to me today, she said, so I'll have them by Friday (not long to travel), I can then complete them while in France, send them on when I get back or from where I am.

Do I understand the spreadsheet correctly that Emma has sent two books to me? Or am I still in the dark? :-)

Anonymous said...

sorry that doesn't make sense unless these books are going around for the second time.

I think I'd rather just have my book sent directly back to me... I'll happily add to other people's books if and when they arrive. And I'll publish the book on You tube or vimeo.
Thanks.
