The Welshman posts . . .
I was asked if I'd post what I'd done in my notebook: but to be honest I'm not sure about the idea. Doesn't it take away the sense of surprise when it arrives? What do other people think?
Anyway I was quite surprised as to how nervous I felt about doing it: being a late starter in the world of sketching, drawing etc.., I panicked and didn't know where to start. So I put the appointed Moleskine down on the board, next to my current Moleskine, and carried on with what I would normally do and then every now and then swopped books and did something different. So what is there, is typical of my normal notebooks . . . no special theme, no big deal; just what I do . . . . that's me . . 'Lo scarabochiatore . . . the scribbler'

^^; oops, that'd be me who asked.
but please don't let that become a burden to you, I didn't mean to make you post if you don't like to. I didn't know you wanted it to be a surprise (and sorry about ruining it). I'm like a goldfish and a golden retriever (haha)... I get surprised once when I see an update on the blog and get surprised again when I see the actual thing. <--that's surprise times two! But I also understand not everybody works like that. Please don't let my excitement be a nuisance to you.
I took pictures like crazy before I sent out my book because I like seeing how things evolve and document its progress.
I don't blame you, honestly. I'd already been thinking about it in relation to 1000 journals project and other exchanges. I love the idea of a cross between a goldfish and retriever.... I'd like to hand that concept to Mattias Adolfsson to visualise!!!! Do you know his work? If you do you'll understand what I mean: and if you don't check him out!!

There is honestly no detraction from actually seeing the original. There is nothing better. Glad to see it!
I agree with Emma that seeing it is always a surprise. Love your start Rowland!
great stuff!
And thanks for the link to Mattiasa, so much fun!

Seing a small photo and receiving the original to hold definitely counts as two different things, both of them a different surprise.
Also once you send out your own personal sketchbook, you're not going to see it again until it makes a full circle through everybody first.
Personally I'm counting on people documenting the process, because I don't think I'd be able to contain the anticipation over that many months.
thank you for the mattiasa blog indeed! it was really fun to read.
Well, I wrote my thoughts out aloud about scanning & posting: I'm convinced! :-) Also in a strange way it's made me feel more a part of the group simply because there has been a response from people: it's good!!
So thanks Jan, and Emma Anji and Emon...and glad you liked the Mattias site, Emon: the guy's work is wonderful!
hm... just thought of another thing:
for example, EWien passes her book to me and then I pass it on to oO; I will never see her book again and won't be able to see what the rest of you have done in her book in detail. Unless you post them on the blog. (aha~ I knew I had another reason to want to see them on the blog)
I know what you mean: that was one of my reasons for thinking it would be nice if the books did two 'circuits' we'd at least get to see the first round of additions!
indeed, posting on the blog makes it an all over experience... I have too many emails, I am just catching up on all your comments.
I got the book !!! :-D
